Hey, hey, it's September!! How did that happen? Well the arrival of a new month means the arrival of two new guest designers! This month we're pleased to have Andrea Vernagus and Melissa Craig. Below is more information about both of our guest designers but first we have to say good-bye to our lovely August designers, Monika Davis and Cheryl Gorka. Both of you provided us with amazing artwork this month, thank you so much!
And here's a bit more about our September designers:
My name is Andrea Vernagus and I am wife to my wonderful husband, Kevin, of almost 12 years and mother to two pretty cute kids, Elijah and Adilane. I am a stamper, scrapbooker, crafter in general, housekeeper, chef of the house, chauffeur for my children, Praise Band singer for my church, Sunday School Song Leader, photographer of my family, and landscaper. I have been stamping since around 1997 when I took a class at a local craft store with a friend and started making my own Christmas cards, but I didn't get fully addicted until I became a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in 2002. Since then, I have enjoyed making mostly cards, but also some scrapbook pages and various other projects and teaching classes. This year I decided to leave Stampin' Up! and have enjoyed the freedom to explore different product lines and awesome stamp companies. I was a Sugar Baby for the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog for six months, have been a "Makeup Artist" for the Paper Makeup Stamps Design Team since July, actually managed to get a card published in the March/April 2010 edition of Paper Crafts (and I have one in the Jan/Feb 2011 edition coming up!). Oh and I am technically a Mechanical Engineer by trade (graduated from University of Michigan), although I traded in my HP calculator for diapers when my daughter was born, but it is hard to shake some of those engineering tendencies! Come and check out my kind of engineering on my blog.
My name is Melissa Craig, I am a child of God, first and foremost. Without Him I never would've been able to endure the trials that came my way the beginning of this year. I am a mother of three amazing children that keep me very busy. I have been a papercrafter for over 12 years now and I've loved every minute of it. I have enjoyed crafts for as long as I can remember. When I'm not busy playing with paper, markers and images, you can find me either watching cooking shows or cooking or reading. You can see more of Melissa's work on her blog.
Please join me in welcoming Andrea and Melissa to the team this month!

Although last week was my final week on the August Guest Diva DT, when Korin asked if I would like to participate in the sneak peeks for Christmas, I just had to say "Yes". I was able to play with the set "A Cocoa Kind of Christmas". If you love Cocoa, you are just going to love this sweet set.
I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek of Christmas! Don't forget about the blog hop tomorrow, September 1, where you will get to check out some new Christmas sets and have a chance to win some goodies.

Customer Spotlight Sunday
Happy Sunday everyone! I pray that today will be a blessed day for you! Welcome to another Customer Spotlight! Today I had a hard time picking a card to share because today's customer has created so many amazing cards with our images! Say hello to Deb Vandersteeg from Little Works of Art. Works of art indeed, her cards are lovely!
The card I finally settled on was this vintage beauty created using one of our month flowers, this rose is from the June set. You can also purchase this image as a digi or as an acrylic stamp and we have flowers from every month of the year...well almost, there are still a few months left until 2011!
I adore this card and how Deb cut out the flower and popped it up on the oval. And how about her coloring skills? Stunning! I also really like the pearl and lace embellishments, just perfect for the old world look of this card.
Deb - Thanks so much for letting us share your card this week!

Season of Love
Happy Saturday!
Today I have a sneak peek of the soon-to-be released (Sept 1) Season of Love clear stamp set. Christmas is going to come so fast and I don't have any holiday cards yet... so here comes the first one. I just love the precious image, don't you?
I wanted to add dimension to my card so I used 2 of the same images. I cut out the white parts of the top image, then embossed it with Psychadelic Embossing Powder. The bottom image was sponged with yellow, orange, and red inks.
I added rhinestones in the middle of the stars. The background was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder... I also used a Martha Stewart border punch and my trusty Spellbinders circle die. The greeting was punched out with a tag punch...
***Please note that I used the digital version of the set so I was able to resize the images.***
Thank you for visiting!

O Christmas Tree
Is it really possible that September is just around the corner, which means *gasp* that Christmas will be here in a few short months? I'm not ready! :-) I am ready, however, to craft a sweet Christmas card with this adorable stamp set, which was recently released. The name of the set is O Christmas Tree and it couldn't be any cuter! This makes me think of life in the country on a bright and crisp winter morning. You can pick up this set for only $9.00!! Now that is sweet!
I'm continuing to go to my SU! winter mini catalog for inspiration and last week I was inspired by a card that used a tag to showcase the name image. Since this stamp fit my size tag perfectly, I had to go for it! I first used a Tim Holtz technique to add color to the tag. You can find a tutorial for this technique here (in my tutorial I used one color of ink, for today's tag I used two colors). I aged the edges of my tag because...well I can't help myself! Once my tag was dry I stamped and colored my image, using Stickles on the ornaments and a white gel pen for the bunny's belly and for a few snowflakes on the ground. The card layout is fairly simple, just using a piece of designer paper in the background, a thin piece of dry embossed cardstock, and a hint of pink ribbon (I'm loving pink on Christmas cards!). The finishing piece was an antique button, from Mr. Tim. :-)
I hope you enjoy today's card and get ready....Christmas is almost here!! And don't forget about our blog hop on September 1, which we'll be showcasing lots of Christmas goodies and prizes!!

Pumpkins & Blessings
Is it fall yet?? I know the nights are starting to get cooler and the leaves are falling off the tree next door, so that's a good sign!! My card today sure puts me in a fall mood! I watercolored one of the pumpkins from the Sweet Pumpkin clear set and paired it with a saying from the new clear set Blessings and Thanks that will be released on September 1st. I just love the sayings in this set! It is definitely going to be a "go to" set for me. Don't forget that there will be sneak peeks here and there all week on both this blog and the DT blogs and that there will be a special blog hop with challenges on August 31st. You won't want to miss it!!!!
Blessings!

Thanksgiving Table Favors
I just love sentiment stamps! I can't ever get enough of them because I always want something really special to put on my card or gift. Sweet N Sassy has some beautiful sentiments--beautiful messages and beautiful script. But hold your breath because you are just going to have to have the sentiments in the new clear stamp releases coming out September 1. Usually, I put the sentiment on the inside of the card and then never take a picture of that, but I created a special sneak peak of a new set called Blessings and Thanks with one of the sentiments from this set clearly visible.
Isn't that an awesome message? I told you you were going to have to have this set, but you have to wait a few more days to see the whole set. Take my word for it, they are all so special.
I think these little favor bags with this sentiment would be perfect for a Thanksgiving table setting, but also what a way to lift someone up. I wanted to create some texture so instead of using regular cardstock for the sentiment, I used some watercolor paper. This provided great texture with the added sponging around the edges. In weak imitation of the fabulous Darsie Bruno, queen of pearls, I added a few copic-colored pearls around the stamped sentiment. I colored some seam binding to create a custom-colored ribbon treatment and added the flower which a dear friend gave me for my birthday. Inside I used some tulle to wrap up a few Hershey's nuggets.
Just a little FYI for all of you: Be sure to check out the blogs of the design team as well as this blog to see more sneak peeks of the September SNS release. Also, there will be a big blog hop on August 31 and along the way you find some fun challenges which could lead to your winning one of the new clear stamp releases. Don't ya just love the suspense!!!
Cheers!

Winter Friends
Good Morning and Happy Monday!
This is the first year that I started making Christmas Cards in August. It's always been my intension to start them early, but It’s never happened. I just couldn’t wait to ink up this cute little snowman.
This is a Sweet ‘n Sassy new release called Winter Friends and I can see myself using him a lot!
Do you know what I like about snowmen, you can use them for any occasion cards for about four months out of the year. From right after Thanksgiving until Spring.
For this card, I used Faux Snow. What is faux snow you ask! Well, take two Styrofoam balls and rub them together and what falls to the table is faux snow.

Can I just tell you how much I love these colors together? So full of life and perfect for a girly card. I also love the addition of the felt flowers and tiny pearl swirl. And how about this fun card layout? So unique and a great way to showcase Molly!

Poppies Birthday
Hello!
Today I have a card for those of you/us, who don't always like to color. I decided to use my beautiful poppies outline stamp just as an outline image. I used a light green background paper with dark brown ink to achieve the look I was going for. What do you think?
I used Poppies and Greetings clear stamp set again. To add texture to my card, I dry embossed the background with a Tim Holtz embossing folder, and sponged some dark brown ink on... I also had to use my favorite Martha Stewart border punch again. I added some pearls and a pearl button and voila! Sometimes, simple is the best!
Thanks for visiting!

Sweet Pumpkin
Good morning! I'm here... FINALLY!! Happy Friday to you!! Today I'm sharing a card I made using a technique that I'd never tried before, but one I really enjoyed. I made this little purse album, and for the leather flap, I sponged half of the Top Note die that had been previously cut out in black card stock with Versamark, then sprinkled it with black embossing powder. After it was coated good, I took a bone folder and made leather marks or patterns in the powder, then it was ready to heat emboss. Here's the directions as found on Splitcoaststampers, using a little bit different shaped card, and making more of an alligator skin pattern in the embossing powder. What a fabulous and fun technique!
I used the newly released Sweet Pumpkin stamp set from Sweet -n Sassy stamps. I stamped them with Momento ink, and colored with my Copic markers. These cute little Country Pumpkins are available in digital form, too. I stamped the sweet pumpkin sentiment with white craft ink, then went over it a bit with a white gel pen to make it a little brighter. The grass I cut by hand out of black card stock. I love the way this project turned out, and after adding a few pages inside, it's ready for my little grandson's first Halloween pictures (next year). For once, I'm ahead of the game. YAY!!
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have a wonderful day, and get in some happy stamping!

Baby Boy's Rockinghorse
I wanted to make a little card for the arrival of a little baby boy. I love girlie colors but there's always a 50/50 chance that the new baby is going to be a boy and the proud new parent may not appreciate a pink card to celebrate the arrival of a son. So, I had to pull myself away from my comfort zone to make sure I've got some little baby boy cards all ready. This is part of such a sweet clear stamp set called Little One. The sentiment is also part of the set and there is one other image in the set along with five sweet sentiments.
I'm really not one to show the inside of my cards because I rarely embellish the inside, but the sentiments in this set would work great for the inside of the card, an area that is often neglected. This set hasn't been in the store for very long, so if you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, be sure to stop by and get it.
Cheers!

Silhouette Love
I have a huge soft spot for silhouette images. They are not only easy to stamp but you can achieve such a variety of looks with them. This is a newly released set that is just gorgeous called Forest Silhouettes. August 7th my husband and I celebrated 11 years of marriage and this was the card I made for him. I love the sentiment because it is so true to me! I first started my card with just my white card base. I then took several Distress Ink colors and with my felt blending tool began to create my background. I started with the green and worked my way up. I then stamped my trees adding some second generation stamping to create a misty look and to add depth. I then chose the moose as my focal image and finished it with stamping the sentiment from the Love Sentiments set and knotting some tied twine. Take a moment today to tell the ones you love that you love them, you'll be blessed because you did! Hugs....

A Gift for Snowman
Hello! This is Cheryl. I decided to get a jump start on my Christmas cards using A Gift for Snowman digital image. I just had to have him as soon as I saw him. He is so cute and easy to work with.
I thought he would look great with these vintage looking papers and distressing. He is colored with a combination of Copic and Prismacolor markers and I finished off the card with some twine and punched snowflakes.
Thank you for stopping by and letting me share my card with you.

The Honest Truth
Sometimes the truth is hard to swallow and that is just the case with my card today....well, at least the sentiment on the card, anyway.
It comes from a new set being released in a couple of weeks called Prayerful Thoughts. The statement may be hard to swallow, but it certainly it an encouragement to know that God will always take care of us :).
I went with a monochromatic look for this card and chose a color that I would typically not use but I think it turned out quite nicely. I dug out one of our older sets, Floral Flourishes--which happens to be one sale right now :), to create the background on the two panels. I stamped the flourishes using Versamark and then chalked over them to add the soft color. I also chalked around the Nestie die to accent the sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by the Sweet 'n Sassy Blog today!
May your day be blessed!

Anyone getting ready for a baby shower? Then you must check out this stunning card created by Andrea Vernagus! This beauty would be the hit of the show!!
This precious elephant and baby image is a digi called Bella & Baby and is so perfect for a shower or your new arrival card. I love the way that Andrea printed the image on patterned paper and then layered the head and body sections for added dimension. I also really like the color combo (seeing as I have two boys!!) but couldn't you also see this in varying shades of pink or yellow? And the stripped brads adds the perfect finishing touch!
Wonderful card Andrea, thank you so much for allowing us to share it with our readers!!

Serene Silhouettes...
Good Morning!
Today I am back with a shaped card. I LOVE circle cards (in this case scalloped circle) so I decided to make one. This time I picked Serene Silhouettes clear stamp set, which was perfect to make this simple (other than cutting out the tiny butterflies), but elegant card.
I love checking out color challenges. I always find a new color combination that I would never think of... I was surprised how well these colors worked for this card. I used Spellbinders Circle and Scallop Circle dies. To add some texture to my card, I dry embossed the dark blue piece with my Victoria Cuttlebug folder. The greeting came from Poppies and Greetings clear stamp set.
Thank you for stopping by today.

Birthday Friends
Good Morning! I made this card using the cute Sweet 'n Sassy digi called "Fence Friends". I always need more birthday cards, and this one looked like it would be a perfect fit for that occasion. I colored the image with Copics. The sentiment is also from SNSS, and is from the digi set called "Feminine Birthdays".
Now, I know my card isn't very autumn-ish... But there are plenty of great autumn sets at Sweet 'n Sassy if you are ready for scarecrows and red and gold leaves. :) Be sure to check them out!!
Have a great day, everyone, and thanks for stopping in!

For the Bride and Groom
Wedding cards are some of my favorite cards to make. The Wedding day stamp set makes it even better since the images and sentiments are terrific. So, I am going to show you a card using the wedding bells image from the set. This bells image is also available as a digi stamp too.
I chose a nice soft palette for my card and used papers from the Basic Grey Capella collection which work beautifully. I stamped the image, colored it with copics, then sponged some sky ink around it while still in my die. I then used frosted lace stickles for the bow and pearls in the middle of the flowers. The scallops of the circle were pierced and all the edges were sewn.
Here is a closer look for you

Christmas Candle...
Happy Wednesday! I just love the newest Christmas Stamps that have been released in the last few weeks! "O Christmas Tree" and the "Christmas Candle" is just a few of the wonderful sets that will make perfect cards for the upcoming Holiday Season! Am I starting too early? Maybe, but I couldn't wait to get my hands on these stamps and start playing, and I'm sure you'll feel the same!
I've made a Christmas Ornament using the "Christmas Candle" set! This is a fabulous gift you can tuck inside a card, to a package or give to a teacher! I used Spellbinder Nestabilities Plain and Scalloped Circles, and one of the dies from their Floral Accent set. Add some glitter paper and pearls to it, and you're well on your way to finishing up those Christmas projects early!
I hope the rest of your week is fabulous and May God Bless You!
Hugs, Darsie
Chocoholic
Okay.... I admit it.... I am a chocoholic... and I had to have the Chocoholic digital stamp set from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps.
Don't these chocolates look yummy? You get this image and some other wonderful, chocolaty images in the Chocoholic digital stamp set.
I used Chocoholic Sentiments on the inside of my card.
Have a great day! I am off to find some chocolate.

First I have to say...isn't this card, created by Melissa Craig, absolutely adorable!! What fantastic coloring and color choices...it's just shouts of warm weather and all things girly! Love it! And second, I just found out that Melissa is one of the guest designers on the Sweet Stop challenge team for the month of August so a double congratulations to Melissa!
The image that Melissa used on her card is none other than Cocoa Mouse...who I think everyone knows, right? She's (or is it a he) is so popular! This image is called Flowers from Cocoa and is available as a digi image for $3.00. I think that this one should be turned into an acrylic stamp soon too, don't you think? :-)
Melissa, thank you for letting us share your card this week and enjoy your time with the Sweet Stop team!!

Thank You Poppies...
Hello! I am Monika, and I am so ecstatic to be one of the Sweet 'n Sassy Guest Divas for the month of August! Thank you Kim and Korin for this awesome opportunity!
I love flowers so when I saw Poppies and Greetings clear stamp set, I just had to try it! I love how this set has so many different greetings, covering a number of occasions.
I used fairly basic colors (red, green and black) for my card... you can't go wrong with these. I also used my favorite tools: Spellbinders dies, Martha Stewart border punch, and Tim Holtz embossing folder. The image was colored with Copic Markers. I stamped the poppies on a piece of scrap paper... cut them out so I can attach them on top of my main image with dimensional tape. With just a little bit of cutting, you can do wonders for your card. I used sponge daubers to do some distressing and sponging. I love ribbons, so of course I had to add that to my card, using my sewing machine. I am a typical girl so blings are a must! It is so easy to make your card sparkle with some rhinestones.
Hope you enjoy this set as much as I do!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Monika
She's BAAACK!!
Chris Dickinson that is.....my dear friend and fellow stamper/illustrator has agreed to come back to the SNSS DT!!!! We are sooo happy to have her back!!! She has certainly been missed!
Not only is she back on the DT, BUT she is also back as an illustrator! You read correctly! Chrissy's fabulous illustrations will be back in stamp and digi form VERY soon!
We are more than excited, as you can imagine, so please join us in welcoming her back :)!!
I Scream for Ice Cream!
It's summer in New England and that means it's time for eating lots of homemade ice cream! All through our country streets you can find family owned businesses that sell homemade ice cream. And the servings? Goodness, one serving is enough to feed a family of four! Let's just say...cough, cough...that our family is on a first name basis with the store in our town...
This sweet cone is part of a darling digi set, Ice Cream Cone, that comes with one image and two sentiments...all for only $3.00. That's a whole lot cheaper than our big 'ol New England cones and far better for one's waistline!
My card combines fun, summery paper from the Bo Bunny Sun Kissed paper line, a grungeboard circle, stamped with a fun Tim Holtz alphabet stamp, and two giant brads to create a bright stage for my mint chocolate chip (my son's favorite ice cream flavor) cone!!
Enjoy and have a wonderful ice cream filled weekend!

Back to School
Good morning!
Here's Schoolgirl Sally all ready for school. Isn't she sweet? I love her neatly organized desk with the cute cup for her pencils and scissors. I wish my desk was always that uncluttered!! Sally fits right in with our monthly challenge that's going on over in our PCP and SNR groups today. You'll have to stop by and say hello! By the way, Schoolgirl Sally is a digi, but the sentiment is from the clear set Poppies and Greetings. I think that clear set is the one that I've gotten the most use of so far. It's definitely a *must have* for your collection.
On another note... this card is a mutated version of this week's Sweet Stop sketch. :-) I rotated it, flipped it, made the center panel too big and put the sentiment in the wrong place. Do you think it will still count??? {{looking innocent}} LOL!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope to see you over at PCP!

Christmas Candle
Happy Wednesday everyone!! It looks like Christmas has arrived at Sweet and Sassy. I am delighted to show you a bit of seasonal cheer myself today. This is one of the new clear stamps released last week at the store called Christmas Candle. It includes this wonderful candle image and four delightful sentiments. If you purchase the digi you receive this image and a beautifully scrolled "Merry Christmas " sentiment. It was so easy to color with Copics or any color medium for that matter.
For my card today I popped the candle up onto Basic Grey designer paper, added a touch of Flower Soft to the center of the poinsettia, and a few crystals to the holly to make it more dimensional. To finish it off I made a bow and added more crystals to the border at the top. This makes me think of the Christmas candle centerpiece on my dinning room table that I put out every year. What a warm and inviting image to use on your Christmas cards this year.
Happy Stamping!!

Cocoa's Mittens
Hi! This is Cheryl. I am so excited about being on the Sweet 'n Sassy Guest Diva design team for the month of August. Thank you Kim for asking me!
When I first found Sweet 'n Sassy, I fell in love with Cocoa the mouse. He is just so adorable and there is a Cocoa image for every occasion. I decided to use the very first Sweet 'n Sassy digital image that I bought, Cocoa's Mittens. Not only do I love this image, but it helps me get a jump on my Christmas cards.
I am looking forward to showing you some other projects using Sweet 'n Sassy digital images during the month of August. Thank you for stopping by today.

Little One - New Releaase
Good Morning Stampers. Can you believe its August already! Even though it's been a really hot summer, I hate to see only one month left of it.
I'm here today to feature a card made with the newly released stamp set called Little One. Isn't this just the cutest baby set!!! It has 2 images and 6 sentiments. This rocking horse would even make a really cute Christmas Card. Hmmmm, I think I may need to try this out!
Blessings,
Nancy

Now on to August's designers! Here is some details about each of our designers...
Hi! My name is Cheryl. I live in Wisconsin with my husband of almost 12 years and my 8-year old daughter. We have 2 dogs and a parrot. I have a full time job working with numbers and spreadsheets all day so I love it when I have a chance to relax and craft. Although I enjoy scrap booking and altering items, making cards remains my favorite. I like the fact that you can complete a project relatively quickly and then easily share it or give it away. I only started blogging last October and love the crafting community I have found there. Every one is so friendly and willing to offer help or support. I am very excited by the opportunity to be a guest designer for Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps.
Hi! I'm Monika and I've been stamping on and off for almost 13 years; it's is my passion. I was born and raised in Hungary, but I've lived in NH for 14 years with my family. I am a SAHM to 2 boys (7and 1). I've been a past design team member for Taylored Expressions and Magnolia, and currently I am on Taylored Expressions Cupcake Sketch Crew and Dutch Dare-Card Challenges Design Team. I've been teaching stamping classes for a number of years now in my local stamp store and at my home, and have been published a number of times in papercrafting magazines.
Cheryl and Monika - We can't wait to see what you create with your Sweet 'n Sassy stamps!! Thank you so much for joining us this month!

Customer Spotlight Sunday
Good morning and welcome to another Spotlight Sunday! Today we're pleased to share an adorable card created by Kelly Schelske. Kelly joined our Design Team earlier this week for our monthly chat and challenge night at Scrapbook News & Review and posted this darling card for us to admire.
This sweet image and sentiment are from the clear set Thankful Molly, but if you want just the image, you can grab her as a digi for just $3.00 (Molly's Flower).
I love the warm, summer colors that Kelly used on her card and how she coordinated Molly's dress colors to match the card. And you can never go wrong by adding scallops! Great card!!
Kelly, thanks so much for letting us share your card this week!!
Be sure to check back later today for the announcement of our August guest designers!!
