January Guest Designers and new DT member

Oh my goodness how this past year flew by! It has been a great year and I just know that the coming year will be full of great things for Sweet N Sassy stamps. One terrific new thing is the introduction of pre-colored digis! How cool is that? Now, we will of course still have the fabulous traditional digis but I think it is a wonderful new option. Another great thing happening here at SNSS is the introduction of a new Design team member and our 2 January guest designers.

However before I introduce our new members I need to say thanks for an excellent month to our December guests designers Denise Marzec and Danielle Shaffer. They have done an outstanding job this past month inspiring us with their fabulous cards and projects!

I also want to say a fond farewell to 2 of our Design Team members that have been with us for quite a while and are moving on- Ceal Pritchett and Nancy Brown. These ladies have been awesome team members and have done a truly great job at promoting Sweet N Sassy stamps! Ladies, you will be missed for sure but not strangers as I know everyone will be visiting your blogs to be inspired by your creativity.

Now I would like to introduce you to our 2 January guest designers- Pattie Goldman and JenMarie Taylor.

Pattie Goldman- My name is Pattie and I live in Hanover (South Central) PA with my wonderful husband of almost 20 years and two beautiful children - my son is 17 and my daughter is 13...and two furry kids too...a yellow lab named Dixie and a black and tan Pomeranian mix named Shadow! In order to support my love of all things crafty, I work full-time as an Office Manager for a local furniture store. I loved being inspired by so many artists on their blogs, that I decided to join in on all the fun they are having and start my own blog to share my craftiness.

Jennifer Taylor (JenMarie)-Hi, I'm JenMarie! How did I get started stamping? I was born and raised in Louisiana. Two years after getting married my husband and I moved to Illinois. When we moved to IL, a gal from church invited me to a stamping workshop and I thought ~ well, I'll go so I can meet people. Um, yeah... the rest is history! I met peeps AND found an AMAZING hobby! We moved to Georgia three years ago and thanks to stamping and the internet/SCS I've made some amazing friends online and in person. Thank You to Korin and Janette for having me as a Guest Designer for SNSS...I'm so very excited!

Last but certainly not least, I would like to introduce you to our new Design team member Julie Smith. Julie was one of our November guest designers and we enjoyed having her so we asked her if she would be willing to stay on as our newest team member and we are so happy that she agreed.

Julie Smith- Hi, my name is Julie Smith (hobbywoman on SCS) and I am super excited to be a guest designer for November! I am married, have 2 teenage boys, and work full time selling insurance. I started out stamping many years ago…dabbled in that a bit, then did some scrapbooking, and eventually came back around – full circle to stamping again. I’d say it’s almost an obsession at this point! When I have free, time you can either find me in my stamp room or surfing the internet looking for inspiration to stamp something!

Welcome JenMarie, Pattie, and Julie, we look forward to seeing the projects you will have to share with us!

Melanie Mouse

Good Morning Sweet 'n Sassy fans and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My card today is a Valentine made with the NEW soon to be released pre-colored Digi called Melonie Mouse. Yes, I know, I am pushing it a little with a Valentine already. But, you see, this is my last post as a Sweet 'n Sassy DT member. It's been a fabulous 21 month ride but it's now time to move over and let other great artists move in.  But, I just had to use this NEW Digi before I left.

Isn't this digi just the sweetest thing you ever saw. As much as I love coloring with Copic Markers, there comes a time when you just need to make a card in a hurry. The pre-colored images are the way to go.

The sentiment is from the Sweet 'n Sassy Clear Stamp set called  Sentiments for Him!

Here's to a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
Blessings to you all!

Pretty Poinsettas

Don't you just love it when you find a new way to use your supplies?! I figured out that I love using this Spellbinders label as a mat and will have to remember to do it again, isn't it pretty? I used the December birth flower, Poinsetta from Sweet 'n Sassy stamps for my focal image, colored with Copics and trimmed out. The top flower is popped up with foam tape. I finally got my sewing machine back out too and did some stitching around the edges. My labels were embossed with the Damask cuttlebug folder. I hope you like it! Hugs...

Soccer Love

When I sat down to do my last card as a Guest Designer for Sweet N Sassy Stamps, I had the Christmas Carols playing...I was singing along...and the urge to do Valentine's struck!  Bam!  Just like that I packed up all the Christmas papers and pulled out the pinks and reds.  I know that we're going to have a few "special" valentines to give away and who doesn't know a soccer fan?  Cocoa Loves Soccer is such a perfect image to personalize an otherwise generic valentines card.
I used my Cuttlebug to cut the hearts out in a sparkly felt that I found at my local craft store.   This card came together very quickly, and I plan on making a few more and using different images like Cocoa Loves Football and Spot The Dog.

A special thanks to Jeanette who asked me to be a Guest Designer and to everyone over at Sweet N Sassy for making this such a wonderful experience.  With images as wonderful as these, it made my job a whole lot easier!

All Star Cocoa

Hello everyone!  I hope you had a joyous Christmas holiday.  My children and I had a great time spending time together and with friends.  My boys were certainly very excited to receive a couple of gifts that showed their love for their favorite football teams.  Their excitement over their gifts inspired me to make this card....

This is Cocoa Loves Football and so do my boys!  I paired it with Sport Sentiments, although the circle sentiment is not a Sweet n Sassy image, but it worked well.  I kept this card very simple which makes it friendly for our toddler friends.

Don't forget that all Christmas stamps are on sale until January 1st - 30% off!!  And then on January 1st Korin will be releasing some wonderful new stamps... I cannot wait to show them to you.  Have a great week and if I don't talk to you again this week, I wish you a very prosperous and bountiful blessings New Year!

Many hugs,
Mel

Customer spotlight Sunday

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas filled with many blessings. Now we are in our last week of 2010- yikes! As soon as I saw this amazing gift bag and matching tag created by Nancy Kirk, I knew that I wanted to share it with all of you and feature her as our customer spotlight. Nancy used our Smiley Snowman digi for her project. Even though, she used it as a Christmas bag, it would be great for a birthday or generic winter set.

Here are some close ups for you

Nancy used flower soft for the snow- how clever!

One of the great things about digis is that you can make them any size you want. This gift bag and tag are a perfect example of that allowing you to customize your projects.

Thank you Nancy for sharing your beautiful work with us!

Tommy Turtle

Happy Holiday Greetings!!! I'm so excited about celebrating Christmas with my family tonight and can't wait to get up early with the kids in the morning! Fun stuff!

Today's card features this adorable turtle image, called Thankful Tommy Turtle. Ah, I just have a thing for turtles, they're so darn cute!! Tommy is currently a digi image, which can be purchased and downloaded from the Sweet 'n Sassy web site...but....if you can wait a few more days....you'll be able to purchase Tommy, along with a bunch of other darling turtle images and sentiments, as a stamp set!! Ohhh...I can't wait!!!

My card features sweet paper from My Minds Eye; I kept the card layout fairly simple so I could give all the attention to Tommy. *wink* I did slightly alter the image by cutting the thank you tag off of the flower. I was going to have Tommy "holding" it but decided that it looked cute with a bit of twine, layered on his shell.

Be sure to check back on the Sweet 'n Sassy web site on January 1st for lots of new goodies!!

Cocoa's Christmas Tree gift card holder...

Good Morning!

I have a cute Cocoa gift card holder today, using Cocoa's Christmas Tree digi image. Other than coloring sweet Cocoa with Copic Markers, it was really easy to make. This is a really cute last minute gift idea. It can also be used as a card.

I printed 2 images and cut out Cocoa's head to pop it up on the original image. The gift card holder is die cut with Top Note Sizzix die. I die cut 2 pieces, cut one in half and embossed it with Textile embosing folder... I sponged chocolate brown ink on top, and around... I also used Square and Lacey Square Spellbinders dies... To highlight the greeting (December Poinsettia clear stamp set), I punched out an oval shape and using the negative, sponged white craft ink inside the oval , then stamped the greeting with red ink.

I am in love with bead embellishments these days so I added some to the red and white Baker's Twine. To dress up the tree, I used Gold Spika Marker, red Stickles, and red rhinestones.

Hope you liked this cute idea. It is so easy to customize it to any occasions.

Thanks for visiting!

Monika

A Cocoa Kind of Christmas

It's Cocoa again. I just can't get enough of this little guy. Korin never seizes to amaze me with all the wonderful Cocoa stamps. I want them all! hehehe. This is "A Cocoa Kind of Christmas."
I did some paper piecing on the ornament.
DP is Echo Park Merry Christmas and Wintertime. You can purchase both of these from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps. I colored Cocoa with copics Thanks for stopping by today.

Tasty Treats!

Have you ever coloured on "auto-pilot"?  I did...just days ago, in fact.  A few of us girls got together for a night of chatting and colouring and I pulled out this cute Chef Cocoa image and got to work.  I chatted more than I coloured...and when I started to assemble this week's Guest DT Sample, I realized that I coloured this like it was a muffin...when in fact, it is a chef's hat... LOL!  Can you tell?  I think it works both ways, so I used it.  Would you know if I didn't tell you?  LOL!
I used the Kitchen Sentiments with this one as well.  My layout is courtesy of this week's Sketch #87 at The Sweet Stop...but no stitching, though I couldn't resist using the sketch!  It's hard to tell, but this is actually the front of a Chinese food takeout container.  I'll be filling it with goodies tonight and taking it a friend's house for a little Christmas gift.

Stamps:  Chef Cocoa, Kitchen SentimentsPaper: Crate Paper Snow Day Collection, Brown, Pink
Ink:  Copic Markers
Accessories:  MS Ribbon Loop Border Punch, Misc. Prima Flower, Large Bella Dot in Brown, Hero Arts little hearts, Misc. Ric Rac Ribbon.

Cocoa's Mittens

Hi there and thanks for stopping by.
Today is a sad day for me as this will be my last post as a Sweet 'n Sassy diva. I have been with SNS almost from the beginning and I will miss it terribly but I won't be a stranger because Korin as asked me to be a Cocoa Crazies', what is that you ask? Well if you have not heard the news SNS has a new challenge blog for Cocoa lovers only Crazy4Cocoa and I am definitely crazy for cocoa.

Customer spotlight Sunday

Today our customer spotlight features Margo Smith and this adorable Christmas card that she made using one of our new December release digis- Cocoa Loves Soccer. I love how Margo creativity made the soccer ball into an ornament! I love all the sparkle she used on the soccer ball. I bought one of my daughters a soccer ball Christmas ornament this year too so this immediately reminded me of that.

Well, here we are in the homestretch- the last week before Christmas. Are you ready yet??

Have a blessed day everyone!

Awwww, check out this little guy named Spot?...is he cute or what?! Love him! He's a brand new digi that was just released this month. I combined him with a sentiment from my Woof You stamp set. The card measures 4" square and I sparkled up the collar with some waterfall Stickles.

Have an awesome day!

You're #1!

I'm going to switch it up a little today and take a step away from the Christmas/winter cards. (Even though I'm not even done with my Christmas cards! lol) But I was in need of a birthday card for a young boy so I printed off "Cocoa loves soccer". I kept the card simple and went with the boy's school colors (black/white).

Card measures 4 1/4 x 4 1/4. Background is cuttlebug'd with the swiss dot folder. Colored Cocoa with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless minerals. Cocoa is cut out of the circle and cut out with a circle Spellbinder and then layered onto a scalloped circle Spellbinder. Entire layer is on dimensions. Did a faux layer, by using a black marker, around the digital Sports Sentiments. On the inside I wrote "Happy Birthday, All Star!" Added a ribbon tied in a knot at the top to finish off my card.

I love simple and quick cards and am really pleased at how this turned out. And with that I will leave you with this....... only 7 more days until Christmas! (eeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk)

A Merry Little Christmas

I have a cute Christmas card to show you today which could pretty easily be reproduced. This would also make a nice generic winter card as well if you change the sentiment. I used the emboss resist technique for the background behind my snowman. The "snow" is torn paper strips edges with snow glitter and stickles. The snowman from the Welcome Jesus set was colored with copics, cut out and adhered with foam tape between the snow layers. This image is also available in digi form called Smiley Snowman which would be great to use if you still have more Christmas cards to finish.

I just love this cute little snowman- don't you?

Have a fabulous day!!

Blue Christmas

Hello! Ever since I first saw this December Poinsettia I wanted to do one in Blue. I Love looking at them in the stores and seeing all the different colors they alter them into now. They sometimes even sprinkle them with pretty glitter! I added sparkle to mine with a Sakura clear glitter pen, then I added silver pearls to finish it off. The Poinsettia is available as a digi or as a stamp set!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!! Only 9 more days till Christmas!!

Candy Container

Oh my, it seems that I am all "carded" out.  Every time I step into my scrap room, I feel the need to make something, just not a card.  Lucky for me, I had this cute little mini-paint can sitting waiting for me.  I filled it with Christmas M&M's and wrapped it with a quick strip of paper.  Then I punched out a snowflake and a tag and added them.  I finished it off with Spot the Dog and Santa's hat.  I added some stickles to the snowflake and some Liquid Applique on his hat...I love how it makes it all puffy.
This time of year, there are so many people that my kids would love to give gifts to, and something small and handmade is perfect.  It came together very quickly and I can see making more of these to have on hand...just think what we could do with different hats for spot...Birthday's, Valentine's Day, St. Patricks, Fishing Hat....ooh, this could be fun!  My Christmas Spot bucket will be going to the babysitter.

Only 11 days until Christmas!

Stamps:  Digi Spot the Dog, Santa Hat
Paper:  Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses, CTMH Olive
Ink:  Copic Markers, Memento Black
Accessories:  EK Success Snowflake Punch, SU tag punches, Green Stickles, White Liquid Applique.

Feel Better Paulie

So many people I know are sick right now, so I decided to break out this sweet digi to make a card for someone feeling under the weather.

The image is called Feel Better Paulie and the sentiment is from a new set being released January 1st. The striped DP is from Eskimo Kisses by Basic Grey.

I know the card is a tad girlie (ok, maybe a lot girlie) for a "boy" bear but, I couldn't help myself :). Poor Paulie.....he sure looks like he could use a pick-me-up, doesn't he ;)?

Happy Monday!
~Korin

Snowflake Bear

I'm so excited to be a December Guest Designer for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I can't wait to show you the fun I've been having with the new December Digi Release!

Today, I've got a card and a matching gift tag. Snowflake Bear is so cute, he didn't need a lot of colouring, just a little sparkle! I traced his edges with some Crystal Stickles and he pops right off the page.
My favorite thing about digi's is that you can size them to any project. I was able to shrink Snowflake down to fit on my tag, with the To: and From: on the back.

For a little all-star I know

Hi everyone! This is Denise here....so excited to be here as a guest this month! A dear friend of mine has a daughter who plays soccer, so I made this little notecard to send to her. I used the newly released digis, Cocoa Loves Soccer and Sports Sentiments.

The card measures 4.25" square. The main panel and star are up on foam tape. I drew in a bunch of grass with a Copic marker and then accented the grass with eucalyptus Stickles.

Stampin' Hugs,
Denise

Santa's Helper Cocoa

Good Morning! I hope you are all doing well. I also hope that you got in on some really good Black Friday deals last week. Not me.... I stay as far away from stores as I possibly can!

Anyway, I also hope you got in on the great deal that Korin was offering last month on the super sweet Santa's Helper Cocoa. If you did, I have a card to share with you that will perhaps inspire you. If not, there's still time to get this sweet stamp set.

I used the sketch from Crafts 4 Eternity for the layout and the gorgeous papers from Echo Park that you can find in the store here. These papers are so rich in color and really make the sweet Cocoa image pop! He looks so sweet peeking out of Santa's hat.

This is the inside view of the card. My oldest son always fusses at me when I leave the inside blank, so now I've gotten to where I make it a point to decorate the inside, too.

I do have one other card to share with you that you may have seen on my blog earlier this week - I think it's so cute that it's worth a 2nd glance. This is not me tooting my own horn, it's easy to create a really pretty card with Korin's images and these Echo Park papers.

This card features the Cocoa's Christmas Tree that was just released a couple of days ago. Cocoa has to be my absolute favorite and I look forward to featuring the new images all month long.

Let me also take this time to send you my own Christmas wishes. I hope that your Christmas is filled with joy, laughter and the love of Jesus Christ.

Many hugs,
Melissa

Snowflake Bear

Happy Holiday Greetings! Have you all been to the Sweet 'n Sassy web site to check out all of the brand new digis that were released yesterday? Fantastic! I just have to gush here a bit about how much I love SNSS images. We have such an amazing group of illustrators (Korin, Leah, & Chris) and such a wonderful variety of images and sentiments. I just love working with the stamps and digis...great stuff!!

Today's card features one of the brand new digis, called Snowflake Bear and he is super-duper sweet. I colored my bear with Copics (I love that SNSS images provide me with a wonderful opportunity to practice my coloring skills!) and actually used yesterday's SCS sketch challenge (SNSS hosted) for the layout. For a bit of sparkle, I added light blue rhinestones, Stickles on the snowflakes, and a 3-D silver snowflake sticker. The Holiday Greetings sentiment is from the O Christmas Tree stamp set.

Head on over to the web site and check out the new releases...There's bound to be something you'll just love!!

Enjoy!

A tasty treat...

Good Morning! Today I have a cute little card with a matching tag for you, using one of the brand new Cocoa digi images, chef cocoa.
I wanted to take a break from holiday cards so I decided to make a card that could be used for any occasions... as long as you have a sweet and tasty treat to give...

The sentiment is from kitchen sentiments, another new digi set that goes with this sweet cocoa perfectly.
I used Spellbinders dies, my favorite Martha Stewart border punch, a Cuttlebug embossing folder, silver rhinestones, some retired SU! buttons, and Black and White Baker's Twine... Sweet Cocoa was colored with Copic Markers.
To add dimension and texture to my card, the images were cut out and the background was sponged with brown ink.

Do you like Cocoa? Do you like challenges? If you answered yes to either, then you must check out the brand new Crazy 4 Cocoa Challenge Blog!

Thank you for visiting!

Monika

December Guest Designers

It seems that we say every month that it is hard to believe that the current month is over but is it really the last month of 2010??? Where did the year go? Before I introduce our December guest designers I want to thank our November guest designers Roxie Glaza and Julie Smith for an outstanding month! I have truly enjoyed their creations this past month and I am sure that you all have as well.

The 2 talented ladies who will be joining us as guest designers for December are Denise Marzec and Danielle Shaffer.

Denise Marzec
is an SCS dirty dozen alumni. She has a beautiful simple style and boy can that girl color! I was thrilled when she accepted my invitation to join us this month! I am also blessed to be able to call her a friend. A picture and a little more information on Denise...

Hi there, I’m Denise (peanutbee on SCS). I live in Pennsylvania and work from home as a transcriptionist. I’m married to an awesome guy who is most definitely my best friend and biggest support, and I’m a mom to two beautiful girls. I started out my paper crafting journey as a scrapbooker and then in 2007 I was introduced to stamping and card making. I found SCS and the whole world of blogging, I’ve been lucky to be a part of some amazing design teams, and the coolest part is I’ve made some awesome friends through it all. I got to attend my first CHA consumer show this past summer (amazing experience), took a couple Copic classes in October with Suzanne Dean, and recently worked at a local stamp show where I got to meet Korin and Janette! What sweethearts! Coloring images is my favorite part of crafting; I think it’s relaxing. Thank you Korin, Janette, and all the girls on the SNSS team for having me as your guest this month! I’m excited to be here!

Danielle Shaffer is a frequent participant of the Sweet Stop Sketches. I immediately noticed her work and just knew that I wanted to invite her to be one of our guest designers. I was very excited when she accepted. Below is a photo and a little more info on Danielle.

I started scrapbooking in early 2006 just after my second daughter was born. I love scrapbooking, the whole process of being able to turn regular pictures into art is something I enjoyed...and then I found cards and copics! I dabbled in cards until January 2008 when I discovered Copic markers and I haven't looked back. I love making cards because I can make something different every time, and I can finish a project in one sitting. Nothing motivates like seeing the finished product! Just this past summer I discovered digital stamps and that has opened up a whole new world for me. I am excited to be the Guest Designer this month at Sweet N Sassy Stamps and so honored that I was asked. I am both amazed and grateful for the wonderful friends that I have made on my papercrafting journey so far and I am excited for what the future holds.

We are so fortunate to have both Denise and Danielle with us this month. I know I am looking forward to seeing the awesome creations that they will have to share!

Poinsettias and Polk Dots

The poinsettia images are colored with Prismacolor pencils. After cutting out the image the edge of the cardstock is colored with a black marker to define the image; it is attached to the panel with tacky glue. This image is perfect for cutting and arranging.

Glitter was applied to the flower centers and in areas around the images.

The frame is designed to cut the rectangle out of the center but by rolling the die into the machine just far enough to cut the edges and rolling back out again will keep it as one piece which is easier to work with as a full card.
Dry emboss the entire panel.
Sponge the dots before removing the cardstock from the die.
Mask off the rectangle with sticky notes and ink distress the edges.

To form the card - cut a second frame with the same procedure but don’t emboss. Score ½” from the top, fold, apply adhesive above the score line and attach to the front panel

The envelope is embossed with the long edge of frame die and sponged with ink.

Cocoa's Christmas Tree

Happy Monday!
Can you believe Thanksgiving has come and gone. Get ready Christmas shopping. How about making a package of Christmas cards for a gift. Everyone loves homemade crafted cards. Check out the new December digis at Sweet 'N Sassy stamps. I can't decide which one is my favorite I love them all and you will too!

For today's card I used Cocoa's Christmas Tree. I colored it with copics. I colored the ornaments with gel pens and added gold beads for the trim! I used a circle nestie and eyelet circle for my focal image. A red silk ribbon ties up the card!

Have a great week and start making those Christmas cards!!!
