Of All The Fishies In The Sea...

Good morning!! Today, I have two cards featuring the brand new Digis for today: "Pucker Up" and "Blowing Kisses"! These are available now over at the Sweet 'n Sassy Store!!

First up, is this cute little fish bowl is illustrated by Leah Cornelis...what a super sweet image! I played around a bit with "Pucker Up" and decided to make a window card. I cut around the fish bowl to use it as a template for my acetate window. I made sure to place the fish and the gravel so that they would show through the window exactly as seen on the original image.

Now, before you take a peek at the inside, I need to ask you to tilt your head a little to the left...more....more...ok, that should do it!! Why?? Well, I noticed after everything was stuck down, that it's all a little off-kilter. :( Now normally, I can tease layers off with some thread...however, I had just run out of my usual adhesive. Since this card was going to be quite thick and heavy, I decided to use my Glossy Accents to adhere everything...very permanently. These papers were NOT budging. So, please humour me and just "pretend" that everything is straight, ok?? lol ( a very wise friend once told me that things being a little crooked is just proof that something is handmade with love...after all, nobody is perfect right?? hee hee)

So, for the inside of my card, I cut a square of Neenah cardstock, and drew in a bit more gravel to fit this square. I coloured in the water and the plants with Copic markers. The fish were also coloured with Copic markers, coated with Stardust Stickles and pop dotted for dimension. I found this great package of coloured glass beads at my local dollar store, and used them for the little pebbles at the bottom of the fish bowl! Finally, I used some more of those great heart rhinestones (also from the dollar store) as the heart bubbles that Leah drew in this image.

"Blowing Kisses" was drawn by Deedee Anderson. This is such a sweet little bear! For the fur, I used layers of feather strokes done with Copic markers. I opted for a shaped card this time and used my Nesties Labels 8 for the cardbase and DP layers. Since I had cut the teddy bear out, I needed to draw in the "kisses" that Teddy is blowing. I also used Frosted Lace Stickles on these "kisses". The sentiment is part of the "Blowing Kisses" set.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Make sure to head on over to the Sweet 'n Sassy store to pick up this week's digis!

God bless,

Melanie

All My Heart

Hi Stampers!  Hope you are all back into your stampin routine after the holidays, its taken me a while to get out of Christmas mode!  Last week's digi release was just perfect to start your Valentine's cards (and trust me, you won't want to miss tomorrow's release either! ;D)

I kept my card very clean and simple and just let the beautiful heart from All My Heart take the central focus, I'm not sure even if I'm going to add a greeting!  My papers are from Papermania and the heart coloured with copic marker to match the pale blue birdie.  I used a quickie glue pen to go over the swirls on the heart and sprinkled on some clear glitter so it really sparkles IRL.
Don't forget that Thursday is Digi Release Day - check back then to see what Melanie has made for you with the new releases!

Sweet 'N Sassy Love

Hello! I hope that you are having a truly glorious day! I am showing cards that use the digis that were released this past week. They are just the cutest images and such fun to play with! :)

In both cards that I have made, I paired the digis with Basic Grey papers, one of my fave paper lines. The first card is made with 'A Note For You'. The papers are Basic Grey Junebug. I painted the envelope's heart with shimmerz to add a big of shine. I added a few buttons and used a fun Fiskars punch along the border. Some neat polka dot ribbon finished off the card.

The second card uses Basic Grey Nook and Pantry papers. The hearts are actually printed in 2 different sizes - one of the neat things about digital images. The centers of the flowers on the hearts have been highlighted with frosted stickles. I kept the card design simple here to focus on the fun hearts and sentiment.

I look forward to seeing you next week! May your day be overflowing with blessings! Jennifer

Cocoa's Heart is for YOU!!

Happy MONDAY!  Was your weekend as eventful as mine?  I had to let my son head back for his second semester of college on Saturday.  MAN, talk about being a WRECK!  I don't know what my problem was, but I was worse that morning when he left than when he first left for college in August!  So, I took the rest of Saturday to just rest up and pray a lot.  I trust that the Lord is watching over him, but I guess it is just hard still since I am no longer there to even just talk to him everyday.  Anyhoo!  I am all better now and had some crafty time and conjured up this card for your viewing pleasure!

Cocoa's Be Mine IMAGE HERE is paired up with this sentiment from another digi set called ALL MY  HEART.  I think it is perfect for this Cocoa image, don't you?  SO SWEET!  I used this weeks sketch SSS38 from THE SWEET STOP sketch blog.  This is a great sketch!  EASY yet challenging at the same time, is that even possible?  HAHA!  Make sure you check out these and the rest of the awesome stamp images from the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps STORE HERE; the prices are phenomenal and the quality is spot-on!  AND if you get some of your own crafty time this week, play along with us at THE SWEET STOP, you could just be picked as next month's guest designer! ~ Nicole

Have a great week!

a note for you...

Happy Saturday everyone. I hope you all are staying warm in your little corner of the world. I know I am freezin' here in Central New York where all it has done is snow every single day. I am not much of an outdoor winter person and my favorite thing to do in the winter is hang out in my pajamas, pop a movie in the dvd player and color with my markers or colored pencils. That is what I plan on doing today, so why don't you join me and maybe this adorable little koala bear will inspire you. Isn't he the cutest? My oldest daughter claimed him just as soon as I finished photographing him and she is begging me to print her up a couple for her to play with. He is from this weeks newest release "A Note for You". I colored him using my Copic markers and I added a touch of gloss with a Sakura glaze pen to nose and the heart on his envelope.

A Cuddly Koala and a Heart

Happy Friday everyone! I don't know about you, but I had a lot of fun yesterday at Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Day over on SNR. Everybody created such wonderful cards and more than once I was awestruck at the beautiful creations. Sweet 'n Sassy released 2 new images yesterday; A Note For You and All My Heart and I couldn't wait to play with them.

This cute koala bear was so much fun to color. I have to sheepishly admit that I immediately grabbed the brown copics, only to wonder what color koala bears really are. Regardless, I thought he turned out ok. I used Spellbinders Flor De Lis die and layered the image right on top. I also had an extra Nestabilities label 4 handy which became the 4th layer. To add a little contrast, I added a square dark brown card stock layer to the bottom of the colored image stack and adhered it to the card. The papers on the card base are from The Paper Studio. I added the small red rhinestones in the white space in each corner.

I tend to make cards without a sentiment, depending on the image I choose. That way I can add an appropriate sentiment as I need a card. For this card I added the "koala you my friend" sentiment on the inside of the card.

My second card features one of the hearts from All My Heart:

I used my Quickutz flourish die to add the black flourish which helped to hide another one of my famous "oops" :-) and because I thought it matched the flourishes in the heart. The heart is colored with copics and I used the Heart Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug to emboss the white card stock. Clean and simple.... and quick. This card is a 5x5, but I'm thinking of recreating this as a 3x3 to use as a gift tag and having my oldest granddaughter, Emma help me.

You have got to make sure and stop by the Sweet 'n Sassy store!! The January Release Bundle is now available and you can get the whole release for only $40. Oh, that violin and that cute, cute snowman, and.... Better go check it out, you won't be sorry!

Be sure to check back tomorrow to see what Debi Southard, one of our January Guest Designers has created. I know it will be awe inspiring.
